The last supper
In the Easter Week, the Thursday is named Maundy Thursday or Thursday of Mysteries. The word maundy is derived from the Latin phrase "Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos". (A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another.) This statement by Jesus can be found in the Gospel of John, chapter 13.
This day is celebrated in Christianity, in remembrance of the night when Jesus founded the Holy Communion. The Gospel according to Luke, 22:17-19.

Tears of repentance / A sinful woman anoints Jesus
An old tradition in the liturgical year of Sweden are four special prayer days.: They were already common in medieval times, and king Gustav I of the Vasa noble family organized eight days of prayer in succession to avoid bad weather and other national misfortune in 1588. In 1676 it was decided that the prayer days should be four, spread out over the year. Eventually they gained their individual names: the day of repentance, the day of reformation, the day of mission, and the day of thanksgiving. The first day of prayer was the day of repentance, and was celebrated in February.

The Baptism of Jesus
In Sweden today, the first Sunday after the holiday of Epiphany is dedicated to the Baptism of Jesus. This event is recorded in all the Gospels. However, researchers agree that the oldest gospel is Mark, and I quote the text from Mark 1:9-11 here: At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

The philosophy of Indulgences
We live in a society who puts a huge premium on indulgences. Ads are full of phrases like "Reward yourself", and other phrases with a similar message. Just about everybody are looking for their "dream wedding", "dream car", "dream house" and so on. It has become common to renovate a newly brought house or apartment in order to make it "dreamy", never mind that the seller renovated it a few weeks ago in order to rise the price.
