In the Easter Week, the Thursday is named Maundy Thursday or Thursday of Mysteries. The word maundy is derived from the Latin phrase "Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos". (A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another.) This statement by Jesus can be found in the Gospel of John, chapter 13.

This day is celebrated in Christianity, in remembrance of the night when Jesus founded the Holy Communion. The Gospel according to Luke, 22:17-19.

"After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”

And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

This episode is also the inspiration of the photograph for the month of April.

A figurine depicting Jesus and the aposels at the last supper.

The liturgical color is white, as the day is considered a day of celebration. Hence the white tablecloth used in this photograph. The figurine could have been complemented with bread and red wine, but the figurine is very detailed and any additions could have cluttered up the impression. The figurine can definitely stand on it's own in this still life.

But Easter is also celebrated in remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus, and this is the reason for another still life.

The Peace of Christ; Jesus in a mediative pose, surrounded by roses and white lilys.

This photograph celebrates Easter Sunday. This day is dedicated to the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. It is regarded as a feast day, and again the liturgical color is white. Good Friday and Holy Saturday are regarded as days of mourning, and the liturgical color is black for these days.

The Crusifix is a reminder of how Jesus life ended, and the flowers are classical burial flowers: four red roses and a white .lily. The figurine is named "The peace of Christ", and is a depiction of Jesus sitting in a Lotus position while meditating. On this day he's mission was over, and the Apostles would have to take over.
